A museum is more than a place to go when you're bored, it's a place where you can mentally travel in time to see how things have changed over time. The Pasig City Museum displays antiques and items related to the city's development, as well as some relics from the previous owner. Now, let's all travel back in time and discover how the city that everyone adores reach its peak to the city it is today.
The famous Spanish-Baroque Mansion was built in 1937 as a present for Don Fortunato Cabrera Concepcion's wife, Don Fortunato Cabrera Concepcion served as the City's mayor in year 1918 to 1921.
The late Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon visited the house to drink pure carabao milk and have some non-political discussions with Don Conception, which was one of the key events that the mansion played for. In addition, during World War II, the Japanese used the mansion as their headquarters and detention camp, and on February 19, 1945, the American flag was hoisted on the terrace beneath the mansion's tower to commemorate Pasig's liberation from the Japanese forces.
In the early 1980's the municipal of the local government of Pasig purchased the Concepcion Mansion and converted it as the city's library and museum. But then, later on the Pasig Library was transferred in year 2001, hence the museum become it's lone occupant.
When you visit the museum you can expect to see a various objects, memorabilia, and artifacts with historic and contemporary significance. I've lived close to this museum my entire life and had no idea that Pasig City Museum, which treasures memories and history, has its own historical story too.
ReplyDeletei live near the museum and all my life i have never been to a museum and i want to get into it.
ReplyDeletewhen i was in elementary, my classmates and i used to go here after school. i remember they have this big and wide glass that stores every money the philippines had and i was so amazed because we once had a paper money that is as big as a 1/2 intermidiate paper. after we go here, we will buy foods or drinks in 7-11 and bond there.
ReplyDeleteI only went to this museum twice but it exceeded my expectations. The inside of the museum has a historic feel that will make you in awe in the rest of the tour. Beginning with the sculptures, outfits and jewelries worn by the sacred Virgin Mary in every occasions, the tinted glass, and the low lights and other historic items in Pasig. It's worth a visit!
